Taking a cue from another thread...

Taking a cue from another thread, the subject of shorts has come up. Would you wear tartan cargo shorts?

This is not a THCD thing in any way...completely apart from that, totally contemporary, not for formal wear nor like those dreaded short suits. I mean regular cargo shorts.

I cannot clarify enough, not in lieu of the kilt. Completely apart from it.

I am a big no on this for various reasons, if I wanted to wear cargo shorts I'd wear a Utilikilt.

Not my style Bren, but for those who like them- knock yourselves out. In shorts I generally wear khaki and blue although I'm looking for a pair in Nantucket red

I voted for option four, though my policy on shorts is that I have to be within 50 feet of the ocean (or a swimming pool) before they come anywhere near me.

    Cheers,

Tartan shorts... As in wool tartan? Probably not. But I admit I wore plaid shorts back in my university days. They were all the rage back then.

My first kilt, aged 8, came with very respectable matching wool tartan shorts to wear underneath it. They did not last past the first wear, they were the most uncomfortable things I've ever worn. I am mildly allergic to wool.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

    Yep, me too.

Now, I'm not a fan of "Cargo" shorts, but I still have several pairs of solid (and plaid) shorts. Generally these are fairly light cotton or blend, loose fitting and about the length of the cargo shorts pictured earlier in this thread. Its a very common style seen here in the summer, as daytime temps frequently top 90. If someone were to make a similar garment of similar weight fabric in a tartan pattern, then yes, I'd be inclined to get at least one pair.

And FWIW, I don't wear plaid when I want to be taken "seriously". Thankfully, I'm usually not very concerned about what others think!
