    Khaki/tan socks

From time to time there are questions here about where to find plain khaki or tan colored hose. I've been scouring the web to find any. The one place I've found that specifically offered tan kilt hose no longer has them. However, after lots of searching I've figured out that Pennine Socks of the UK does offer solid tan colored shooting socks, the next best thing to kilt hose. they are here:

    http://www.penninesocks.co.uk/

As you can see the web site isn't up yet. I've emailed for more information, but so far no replies.

Perhaps the UK faction of the rabble can help us learn more.

I've consider WPC, but have been uncertain about ordering. There have been some negative comments on them here over the years. Like, there on a par with the rest of the Pakistani made highland gear. However, I'll take your word for it and give them a try. The world needs good khaki kilt hose.

Tan Hose are readily available from any vendor who carry the Wool Rich or Piper's hose from Gaelic Themes.

I carry them and I know Rocky does too.

I didn't know they were available from you, Wizard, but I hadn't phoned to ask. I must have overlooked them at USAKilts, as that's one of the first places I usually start looking. it's curious to me that the bigger names offer nothing in plain khaki/tan.

ETA: just dashed to USAK, and find nothing khaki/tan in the Hose (socks) and Flashes category. By the way, I've emailed Gaelic Themes several times with queries, but have never received a response. Is there a trick to getting them to answer?

Pennine sell good quality hose in wide range of colours. I wear them. They sometimes have their sale items on eBay UK and are very good value.

They are quite comfortable. I would say they are medium weight, perhaps just a tad to the heavier side. Not light, in any case. I don't often wear them here in DC in the summer.

Yes they are comfortable, but are different than House of Cheviot hose. Of course the price point is not bad and may be worth checking out.
