    I Knew It!!!

I knew that somehow, somewhere I had to have a Scottish ancester or ancestress. My father's name is Welsh (and I was so happy to find that we were not English--LOL) . But my mon's name was an Anglocized Schmidt-- Smith: German through and through as far as I could see. But today as I was visiting her, she read me a letter sent years ago by one of her cousins and very recently recovered from lost storage. It was the beginning of a family history of her and my mother's grandfather.

It turns out that as a young man, my great-grandfather was a cowboy and farmhand for a family named Grames. He liked the job so well, great grandfather married the farmer's daughter, Mary. Seems that Grames is a variation of Graham. I am not exactly sure yet as to what place of origin in Scotland her family lived, but it is a start. I also know that one my maternal great aunts married a MacKenzie. So I am kind of, sort of, maybe if I stretch it related to the MacKenzies by marriage.

Anyway, it seems that I now do not have to have any better reason to wear a kilt. I do not yet know what the Graham tartan is, but I will have to find out. ith:

Hope all of you have a great week. My first kilt, USAKilts' Celtic Nations, is on its way. Yipppeeee!!!!!!!

The Graham tartan is actually very nice. I have a friend whose last name is Graham and he pokes fun at me wearing my kilt everywhere, but he said he might actually get one in his family if he can find one to try on first. Welcome to the ramble by the way. You will enjoy your USAKilts kilt I know I love my Air Force one.

Well met Tom. Our elders know where all the bodies are buried, skeletons in the closet by first name and personally hid the Scot in the wood-pile. Welcome from Oxford, Mississippi. Go Kilting!
