Question about Sporrans
So I am wondering about Sporrans. Do they tend to be one big pocket? Or are there pouches and dividers in them to help store things better?

Most of the commercial ones only have the one pocket, although I have seen a few with a pocket for your mobile - at the extra cost.
Historically, again, from my expereince, they had just the one pocket, although Sir Walter Scott did have extras added to his sporrans.
Generally, in my experience, if you want a pocket for your car keys, slots for your credit cards, etc, you'd have to DIY or maybe commision one.

I have been using one for a couple of months now and found it very useful.

Good question! This is one of those things you'll never really know if you don't have a lot of contact with other sporran owners or a good shop that has a wide range on sale.
Here's the inside of my most expensive sporran which was bought in a "Scottish shop". They sold PV kilts but for some weird reason their sporrans were all "high end". Note that the key ring holder thing on the right is detachable. All my other sporrans are just empty space inside.

One big pouch is usual, and as noted by others additional innards are custom or DoItYourself. Rather than look for one with inner pouches and dividers I use a small cloth bag for my change and simply layer my wallet, phone and keys.

You might take a look at the "Carry-All Sporran" thread in the Freedom Kilts section of the forum. These have one large rear pocket, one front pocket, one small pocket in the flap, two pockets in the large rear pocket for cellphone, camera, iPod, whatever, and a key holder. I have one of the semi-dress Carry-Alls and love it. They are also well priced and well made by L & M.

Thanks for all the feed back. All of the Web sites that sell Sporrans never show the inside of the things. So one has to wonder what it is like in there.

Check out the Freedom Kilts Carry-all sporran as imrichmond recommends above. Here is a thread with loads of photos and options:

I can repeat that it was the solution to my "carry-all" problem. Has worked fine on a couple of kilted trips abroad too. The slot in the front work fine as a passport and tickets carry while the "normal" stuff stay in order in the other slots.

Good question for all us new members as I have wondered the same thing. I added an extra flap to the (sporran from a purse) I put together. Thanks for the photos also.
