Kilted at the Chipotle Cultivate Festival
As luck would have it, one of mine and wife’s favorite singers was headlining a free festival last weekend. We took my daughter, one of my step-sons and our dog... even though it wasn't their idea of a good time.
The Chipotle Cultivate Festival in Irving, Texas was the last of 3 events (in different cities) hosted by the “Chipotle” restaurant chain, which I happen to enjoy on a regular basis. So, the food was good (though limited), the weather was perfect, the music was fantastic, and it wasn't as crowded as I had anticipated for a free event.
I also wore my 8-yard wool American Heritage tartan (USA Kilts X-rental)... very casually:
I received many inquisitive looks (most seemed positive) and a couple of compliments. I even spoke to a guy from Scotland for a moment who was curious to know if I might be a fellow Scot… until he heard my accent. Aside from Amos Lee's set being limited to 45 minutes, and the long queue to exit the multi-level car park, it was a great kilted afternoon and evening. I even dragged my daughter to the grocery store for a few items after we got home. I hope she gets over her “embarrassment factor” at some point. I know I’m over her embarrassment factor.
