    1758 straight lasted buckled shoes

For a long time now I have wanted a nice pair of period straight lasted buckled shoes. After a lot of research I finally found a fantastic shop that sells a very reasonably priced selection of historical footwear. The shop is called Fugawee.com and the shoes that I purchased are the 1758 model which comes in smooth leather out of rough leather out, I chose the rough leather out which will be water proofed with dubbin then polished to give it a period look . The main reason I chose Fugawee.com was that they offer the 1758 shoe in a variety of size widths such as E, EE, EEE , they are very well made and the construction is fantastic , made in Mexico . Fugawee also have a great selection of period buckles from plain military type buckles to fancy buckles some even with Scottish thistles . So if you are looking for a nice pair of trad shoes to go with a period Jacobite outfit check them out, they also stock women's footwear as well , you will not regret it ! . Pictured below are my 1758 shoes in rough leather out with their Military no . 3 brass buckles with some modern inner soles fitted for comfort

I think you'll be pleased with your choice. I've worn Fugawee straight lasted shoes for quite a few years at reenactments. I'd give them high marks for comfort and durability. One caution, as durable as they are, you'll eventually need to get them resoled. Make sure you choose a reliable shop. My first pair was ruined by someone who never worked on anything but modern footwear.

Best shoes I've bought for reenacting by far.

Yes loving my new Fugawee.com shoes, very well made and a great price as well. Buckles were a bit tricky to fit but got it done alright in the end thanks to the Jas Townsend how to fit buckle shoes clip on You Tube. Next I will put some kind of mink oil or dubbin water proofing on them and then polish them up.

Wow, this is a find. I doubt that I can afford them, but I will be passing this link on to my Highlander Guild friends. Thanks!
