    Chris Hoy picture

I came across this shot of Chris Hoy, one of Scotlands finest athletes. He's won more Olympic medals in cycling than any other cyclist in history, and has won more individual Olympic medals than anybody but VERY rarified company like Michael Phelps and Paul Elvstrom. He's tied for the record of the most Olympic medals won by any UK athlete. In a recent article about Scotlands Manliest Men, I came across this photograph of Sir Hoy wearing a kilt.

----have at it, X Markers. I'm curious at to how many people will be horrified by ........ well, I'll let you all conjure up whatever it is that you're horrified by. Personally, I think he looks pretty good. Besides, considering what he's accomplished, IMHO he can wear whatever the "H he wants.

That would be Sir Chris, Alan. Hoy is his sur name, not his sir name. I think he looks pretty good, too, and I love the titanium work on the Commonwealth torch.

LOL....got it. I'm unfamiliar with how the Sir/sur thing works, officially.

And yes, isn't the torch just gorgeous?

...Gives me a great idea for a sporran cantle pattern I have the same kilt by the way 16 oz Scotch Mist pleated to the stripe on mine though.

If I’m horrified at anything, it’s at the greyness of his tartan. The jacket and weskit look great on him.
Tartan flashes? Not always suitable, but nothing wrong there, I don’t think.
At any rate he was a handsome groom with a gorgeous bride.

His waistcoat's not very good - it hasn't got that classic bulgy bit at the front, like mine

I love that the kilt is such a flattering and forgiving form of clothing. It makes an athlete more striking and the rest of us (victims of the cruel nature of gravity through aging) regal in our own right. Well done Sir Chris, on your choice of subtle tones and appropriate mood of formality (sporran, jacket, etc.)

He looks very comfortable in. I really like his waistcoat being cut flat across the front, looks like it is a custom or possibly a bespoke outfit not your typical off the peg or hire outfit.
or am I mistaken on that?
