A Treat for the Nurses...

This was a Monday like most except I was scheduled for one of those "procedures" (you can't smile for this picture...well, not really!).

My wife asked if I was going to be kilted or not for the clinic. Of course the answer was obvious. So off we went in my new USAKilt Hunting Stewart. As I walked into the waiting room I got the usual looks and smiles. After all the paperwork I was taken into the prep room and there were 3 nurses ther. One said "Your all decked out in your little kilt." To this I said "No man EVER likes to be told his kilt is little!" We smiled and laughed alittle and off things went.

The same nurse that made the comment preped me and we talked. It seems her family came from Scotland several generations back so she knew how to take my comment.

I'll spare you details except I'm glad they had good drugs in there!

In post after I came to alittle another nurse talked to me and then asked if I was ready to go another section of postop wait and talk to the Dr. When I said I was ready she got a blanket and handed it to me then tried to wrap it around me(yep, still in the vented gown). I told her no and reached into the clothing bag (as best as I could) and pulled out the kilt and put it on. She laughed and said "Those things come in handy." I told her on more than one occassion it did!

So there I was, walking (don't like the wheel chairs) down the hallway with nurses and doctors looking at me proudly walking without doing the rear grab in the hospital gown and wearing the Hunting Stewart kilt.

After coming too some more I changed and waited for the Doc. He was a little shocked to see me in a kilt but it's hard to shake that man. After I got my instructions out we went to sleep off the rest of the drugs.

I'm sure I'll be the talk around there for a while.

That was my day...God am I glad it's over!!!!

What a true Braveheart you are, that is a time all but the stout-hearted would conform to the norm, but you stuck in there with you kilt!

Seeing you in your kilt probably did a world of good for all the other patients as well. You know, gets their minds off of things. Well done!

Oddly enough, I was talking to my wife about a similar subject just before I read your post.

I'm going to have a minor surgical procedure done Saturday morning, and I commented on how much more convient it would be to wear a kilt than jeans with the bandages on my thigh.

I hope you get good news from your sawbones.

Five years ago, when spending three days in hospital for varicose vein removals, I wore a Breacan all the time I was out of bed. In those days I had only a couple of 8 yard kilts, and thought a 4 yard Breacan would be more comfortable. I was right!

My surgeon and the nurses were fully agreed that kilts should be compulsory wear for guys undergoing any form of below the waist surgery!

Makes sense Graham. When he snaps on the rubber glove all you have to do is bend over and flip the kilt up.

Ouch Bubba! Only you could come directly to the, uh, point like that. (Well maybe Bear could too, but he didn't!)

I've had to visit my doctor a couple of times since adopting the kilt. It does kind of confuse him a bit, but I figure since I'm paying the bill he can darn well adapt.
