Phoenix Highland Games in Utility Kilt

Greetings... just need a bit of advice. The Caledonian Society of Arizona is hosting the annual highland games in Phoenix this weekend. My wife and I plan to check it out (never been to a highland game event), and I was planning to wear my tan utility kilt (Ut Kilts) whilst checking it out (I had planned on wearing it whether or not we were gonna attend said event). Since a utility kilt is not really formal attire, would it be okay to wear it to a highland event? I assume those putting on the event will be wearing formal tartan array. Just don't want to go there and offend or be wrongly dressed. Any input?

You will feel right at home. Perfect choice for a warm daytime event! If it's anything like our southern Calif events you'll see everything from out-of-place full formal rig (that should be reserved for evening wear) to amazing interpretations of great kilts. Nobody will glance twice at you!

Norm, you will see many utility type kilts at any highland games in the U.S. Perfectly fine if that is what you want to wear. However, since it is a Highland Games, and since you have a couple of nice tartan kilts, I would urge you to go with the tartan, if for no other reason than to get into the spirit of the event. Just my two cents worth, the main thing is go and have a great time. The last thing you need to worry about is any kind of "formal dress."

JDuPree, I think your outfit sounds great. I wish you could find an event to attend before September, seems like a long way away. I hear that the Estes Park games is a good one, have fun!
