    Kilted guides for historic Scotland

I hadn't thought anything of it until just now, after reading the article on the main page about the Historic Scotland guides being able to wear kilts. When I went to Edinburgh Castle, I noticed that several of the guides were kilted. It looks much better than the tartan trousers. The tartan is a nice one too, although I don't think that I got any photos of it while I was there...but I'll keep looking. Another kilted victory...HOORAH!

Graham, you also need some garlic and a steak...thow in some mushrooms too!

    OK, back to seriousness...

I agree. The first time I saw a pair I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My wife saw a pair listed in a catalog and asked me if I was going to get a pair. I told her ONLY if she wanted to torment me through eternity would she ever bury me in a pair because that's the only way I would wear a pair! (She had a funny look on her face after that...I'm afraid I started the wheels turning on that one.)

Does ANYONE actually look good in trews? Especially when they are paired with tie and matching waistcoat, they mostly only look bizarre to me.

Hard to fathom that tartan type trousers are more socially acceptable (here in the US, at least) than kilts! Of course, you mostly see older ladies in them- or the poor fellow who has to wear a strange cousin's hand-me-downs.

Trews are costumes and not garments. (Sorry for borrowing that, Bear)
