Scottish Newspapers and Magazines
All right, lads and lasses from SCOTLAND
(Not from Ohio and California that wish they were in Scotland)
What newspapers and magazines do you read (if any, in this internet era) and why?
-
-
A question! are you defining the thread, as those who currently live in Scotland, or, do you include those who are of Scotland but now live elsewhere?

The Times------ It suits me. The Lochaber News-----Local news. The Trout and Salmon-------because I am still trying to find better ways of catching the wretched things. The Shooting Gazette------keeps me up to date with what some of my friends get up to! The Field------ditto. The Farmers weekly-----market trends, land for sale, etc..
Internet news, etc.? It just fails to appeal.

Scottish Wildcat advertising?
I reckon it is safe to presume that you are looking for the best places to approach as potential platforms for the Scottish Wildcat Tartan.
The very first place you should go is The Scots Magazine which is published in Dundee by DC Thompson and is the oldest monthly magazine in the world having started before the 1745 Rebellion. It is widely read here in Scotland and also - most importantly - has a worldwide circulation of loyal readers. They have also recently published an article about Scottish Wildcats which featured the Wildcat Haven Project.

I would also approach the Scotsman in Edinburgh (known fondly as the Hootsman by those of us who don't share their Unionist leanings) as they are a big national Daily with weekend magazines.

The Glasgow Herald is the other big daily with Weekend magazines.

The Inverness Courier is the big Highland paper.

The West Highland Free Press for coverage of the Inner and Outer Hebrides, which is a weekly paper.

The Oban Times for Argyle & Bute, also a weekly.
http://www.obantimes.co.uk/
The Press & Journal for Aberdeenshire, Inverness-shire, Orkney and Shetland which is a Daily.

The Highland News, a weekly with different titles for different areas of Highland Region.

Scottish Field is a glossy national monthly magazine with international circulation and I believe has also recently covered the Scottish Wildcat Haven Project.

This should get you started. You should be pushing against an open door in most of them. Especially the magazines.
Good luck.

I very rarely read newspapers nowadays but my wife usually buys The National www.thenational.scot during our twice weekly visit to the supermarket and she's an avid reader.

I don't read newspapers since they're all so politically biased and are therefore selected by readers who know they will be told what they want to hear!

Well, if you live in the UK, that qualifies!

Orionson, that's a HUGE help...same for you, Jock.
I guess my motivation is pretty obvious, huh?

Alan, you have to face it. You are not the most (how shall I put this?) subtle fellow around.

Neloon, you folk in Britain are privileged to have newspapers that represent diverse political opinions.
In my country we have papers that are slavishly pro-government, and papers that are not quite so slavish, but nothing independent.
