A new twist on "The Question"

Well, here's a bit of a surprise about wearin' yer kilt at work.
"Groping women force barmen to give up kilts."

Story is here; (from the Inverness Courier today)

My first thought on this was that I was very angry reading it. If someone's hand went up my kilt I might whirl and flatten their nose before bothering to note their gender. Let the police and the courts sort it out - I rather think I might win that one.

Doesn't sound very "priest-like" does it? Nonetheless, I was a man for decades before I was a priest.

I'm with the good Father on this one. This kind of behavior is not fun or cute or innocent. It's a sexual assault. The last time someone did this to me she got a much different reaction than she expected. Put your hands on me without consent and we're likely going to have a physical interaction.

What's bad for the goose is bad for the gander.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I had my own new twist on this at the Seattle airport a few weeks ago. I was waiting to pickup a friend when a woman approached and asked if she could take a selfie, usually I have no problem with someone asking to take their picture with me when I am kilted. However when she went to put her phone under my kilt I took a quick step back and said "darling you aren't up there so that ain't no selfie. " I am sure she thought she was being cute and clever but I sure wasn't laughing.

What a disgusting pig of a human being. I can't even begin to understand the thought process that leads up a person thinking that kind of thing is okay, since we all know what would happen if a man tried to do that to a woman. While I was yelling at the woman who did it to me she actually said, in all seriousness, that I was asking for it by wearing a kilt.

Apparently the two are not mutually exclusive.

    Update

An extract update from the Scottish Sun:

“Staff wear kilts as it’s part of the highland appeal. I want them to keep wearing them but would never force them to given the circumstances.
“But I can’t afford to have the bar closed so have agreed that they can wear trousers for now.
“I’m going to be putting up signs to warn people not to touch staff inappropriately.
“Anyone who does so again we be asked to leave.”
The warning posters will read: “The management reserves the right to eject any woman who interferes with the personal territory of any of our kilted staff especially in that area located between the knee and the hip.”
Staff are now considering whether to don the kilts again.
Iain said: “We’re discussing our options.”
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I'll be in Inverness the first week in August and plan to stop by Hootanannay at least one night. Hopefully kilts will have returned. If not, I'll encourage it with a stronger stance towards inappropriate patrons no matter the gender.

Hope you have a good trip. You could point out to them that the sign should read "person" as opposed to "woman", otherwise someone is going to claim discrimination and it leaves the door open to any men who may feel that way inclined or who are dared by their womenfolk.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
