Dr. CMcG: I finally graduated!
About a year before I joined Xmarks, I started a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology. It took me a while, but I finally defended my dissertation in December 2014 and attended my convocation last month.
This site provided endless hours of distraction when I wanted to think about anything other than my research. Of course, I have also learned a lot here and made some friends too—whether or not I've ever met them in person. Thanks, folks!
In case anyone is interested, my thesis was titled "Music of the Martial Arts: Rhythm, Movement, and Meaning in a Chinese Canadian Kung Fu Club."
There were no kilts involved, but here are a couple pics:

Congratulations Colin!
Now you can say (like my son Brian who has a PhD in Math), "Yes, I'm a doctor, but not the kind that helps people".

My deepest respects on you achieving your PhD. Sew a torrie on the Tudor Bonnet and get more miles out of it. Most Ren Fair attendees will follow suit and you'll be a trend setter as an era alchemist.
The interesting question is how many chemicals are involved in drafting Canadian Chinese martial arts musical themes?
