Reverse Kingussie kilt in Scottish Wildcat under construction in Iceland
Thought I'd post a pic of the latest Scottish Wildcat kilt that I'm working on. Kilt is a reverse Kingussie, 6 yards. I'm in Iceland at the moment teaching a geology field course, and I thought it would be fun to take a pic in front of one of the vents of the 1783-84 lava flows of the Laki eruption.

The Laki eruption was enormous - 14 cubic kilometers flowed out over the course of 8 months, along with huge volumes of sulfur dioxide. The eruption caused diminished or failed harvests throughout the Northern Hemisphere. Resulting famine killed an estimated 6 million people worldwide and has been implicated as one of the contributing factors in the French Revolution. In Iceland alone, 50% of the livestock died, which led to famine and death of over 25% of the Icelandic population.

For most of us, you are in a "once in a lifetime" situation (Iceland, new kilt construction on a rare tartan, teaching a geo-disaster event, etc.) My envy is enormous. Thanks for the photo and info. Be well and safe.

The Wildcat tartan looks right at home in the tones of that landscape. Thanks for the shot, I'm considering a RevK for my yardage as well!
