Just thought I would share this short blog post about things to do in Paisley, Scotland.

Historically, Paisley has its roots in the Weaving Industry, (we are the home of the Paisley Pattern!) and there is still much to see here, from traditional Weavers Cottages, preserved as they were in the 1700's, to the Thread Mill Museum, housed in the old Anchor Mill in Paisley!

As a Paisley buddy now living in exile in the Scottish Borders I can heartily endorse this blog. Make sure to spend a day in Paisley during your visit to Scotland. The historic abbey, where William Wallace received part of his education is a top visitor attraction. Visit the Hamills waterfall where once the mills on either side of the river had a source of power, better still stay in the Watermill overlooking the falls, which is now a classy hotel. The sma' shot cottages are well worth a visit and if you pick the right day you will be able to watch weaving demonstrations on the old looms. Have lunch or high tea in Allan's, just round the corner from Houstons Kilt Shop. I can highly recommend their fish and chips, served with bread and butter, and tea or coffee.

I heartily agree with both sentiments. I grew up living next to the East end Park and "the Mill", and of course you can play golf or picnic at Barshaw Park, see a game of fitbaw at Love St, and if you need a wee rest you can sit in the gardens next to the Town Hall at "the Cross".

Not quite. The Love Street soccer stadium closed a few years ago and St. Mirren now play their home games at a brand new and better stadium at Ferguslie, on the north-west edge of Paisley. The Ferguslie stadium also occasionally hosts some of the junior and ladies' Scotland international games.

Thanks for the info, it is something I wasn't aware of. When I was a kid, "FEEGIE" was viewed as the last place anyone would want to move to.
