    knit bonnet

My wife and I just finished an all black wool bonnet with 100% silk grosgrain ribbon hand-sewn trim and cockade. The top is a bit bigger than I like... I may have to have Hilary size down the top an inch or two. She does the knitting and I do the finish work.

    very nice work!

Do you use your own pattern or some other? I am looking at giving it a shot myself.

That really looks good. Excellent job! I found with my old knit Tamoshanters that they tended to shrink some in diameter with age, exposure to humidity and drying, etc. Once I got the top diameter where I liked it, I'd cut out a disk of plywood. Then when I washed them, I'd stick them on the disk to dry and prevent too much shrinkage.
