My wife's latest project
Last week Marite made me a tweed vest. This week she's working on a jacket to go with a skirt she made a few weeks ago. Cheviot charcoal tweed and our T-6 Black Dalgliesh tartan. I believe the plan is for gauntlet cuffs and black staghorn buttons, probably no epaulets. Still a lot of work to do, but it's coming along really nicely. It's a Burda pattern that we bought on line and downloaded. You print it out on a home printer, tape the pages together and you're ready to go, or modify it to meet your needs. Pretty slick. I wish I had the patience to do this sort of stuff, but I'm more of a 20' seams and 25 stitches per second kind of guy.

Slick indeed! That will look great when finished (by description). You'll not be out shining your lass in future functions.

Plus, if we get oldtimer's disease and one of us gets lost at the highland games, it will be easy to tell who we're supposed to be with.

Closing in. She is currently installing the lining. The sleeves went in well and the gauntlet cuffs are still waiting to be hemmed, but look great. I think all the make-or-break stuff has been accomplished and the fit is good, so now the remaining steps are pretty simple. We spent a few days up north at our family's place on the lake, did some kayaking and target shooting, but took her sewing machine for the evenings since the TV seldom works up there.

We even spent one afternoon hiking a few miles on a nice trail through the woods made on an old railroad bed. She wore the blue T-6 tartan and I had the black version.
