Of wishes and Warnings
I must admit I've been a kilt wearer (Not full time) for some time .After joining this forum the addiction has just got worse. So you beginers beware
I read about this kilt, and that kilt .I rush to the tartan finder and look. Some I like Some I love and, some I don't like.Out of all this and primerily thanks to you lot I've got a whish list.
1.) My 8 yard Bear When it gets here (Hunting Mclean)
2.) I'd love the Shammrock in a 4yard from USAK
3.) Thanks to Rufus Now I have to add a 16oz 8yard Irish Dispora (I'm going to Scotland next year I'll order beforehand and pick it up in person)
And these are just Three of my wishes. No doubt this list will get longer and my wallet will get thinner. My wife will disown me, my kids will run away screaming ,and my house will burn down....And all because I,in a lightheaded moment purchased my first kilt,Boy have I got it bad.
Any help out there

I agree David, the addiction just feeds itself.
Today I bought a camera for my daughter, she really wanted one, but I was in the Camera store with my wife and when the price of $500 was mentioned, my first words were 'I could get a really nice kilt for that'. Shame on me!!
My wife quickly said 'you have enough kilts already'
Regarding tartans david, I think it would be a good idea for kiltmakers to sent out swatches, or some samples of the actual cloth.
For us who order from far off lands - it increase our confidence that what we are buying is what we want.

Sadly, David, I think #3 might be more of a fantasy than I thought. I can find 13oz Diaspora tartan from House of Edgar, but I haven't found 16oz. But, 13oz is still a great kilt!
PS - sorry I added to your wish list. First a jersey, now a kilt! I'm such a bad influence!

Since March 4, 2004, I have ordered 4 kilts. Two have arrived and I have been wearing them almost constantly. I still have 2 on order. Now I think having 3 on order at the same time is a sign of an addition problem. I, too, think of value in relation to kilts.
I even stated in a thread, started by Jimmy, that I had no need for a more formal kilt, but have found myself ordering a tradional style kilt, shortly thereafter, from Scotland. (4yds., thought)
I think that my wife has caught the bug too. When I put on some pants the other day, she asked why I was not wearing a kilt. I was going to climb on the roof to fix a leak. Also, she was really into the idea of have a traditional style kilt (She doen't care for non-tartan kilts, but I'm working on the saffron.). She has also committed to sewing me a kilt, possibly this winter.
Like David, I too am influenced by the discussion on the forum. I have visions of tartans dancing through my head.

Ah yes, the "Proliferation Problem"! I believe this was proposed as a study for the National Institute For Mental Health, the fact that once bitten by the kilt bug men just start an "aquisitional phase" and can't stop themselves from ordering additional kilts. At least I can't. I have one on order from Bear but I was so anxious for another visit from my friendly postal carrier that I had to order a budget kilt from Stillwater to tide me over.
My wife started complaining that If I don't slow down she's going to have to start getting rid of some of her clothes because of the amount of closet space my kilt kollection is beginning to require.

My wife is from France and has an eye towards tradition. This has come over to the kilts. That is, once the orginal shock wore off.
