A novel sporran for my son.

I was looking for a sporran for my son and didn't like many of the options most catalogues and sites offered. I found a great item on the clearance rack at JCPenney. It is a cross-chest purse from their junior department. I removed the original straps and replaced it with a cut down sporran chain set I had. Got tons of compliments at the last games as it was decidedly different from the usual options. image.jpg

My first sporran was much like the one you have for your son. A woman's purse converted yet still served the purpose for me. Good job and useful until replaced. I still use mine because of the size.

Just curious, what was wrong with the original purse strap. Could it not be modified as the sporran strap? I have found some unique purse straps in Goodwill and Salvation Army stores that are great sporran straps as they are. I am not a big fan of chains anymore.

Nothing wrong exactly. They were extremely long. Ki could probably had them cut down but the chains were readily available. (Because I had changed my sporran over to hangers. I often use a simple leather strap too. A braided learner strap of an appropriate design would have been great.
