    Whoohoo.co.uk Scottie Translator

This website is great fun but I wonder about accuracy, or as that would say when translated by the site:

"Thes website is stoatin fin but Ah wonder abit accuracy."

It makes a bad start by claiming it's the language of those north of Hadrian's wall I doubt those living in Newcastle would agree, the Scottish border is 70 miles ish north of Newcastle. I note they produce a Geordie translator which would also cover part of the area north of Hadrian's wall
Even then there is no such thing as a Scottish accent, Glasgow is different, from Edinburgh , from Inverness, from the Gaelic speaking areas. Even inside Glasgow the accent is different between the gorbals and kelvinside.
I think the site is meant to be a bit of fun, but you can be guarrentee some one will take this site seriously!

No doubt, just as there's no really "American" accent.
There are American regional accents and as we learned from "My Fair Lady" there are hundreds of accents in Britain.
But it is, as you note, a bit of fun.

A fun movie fact: About half of the Commitments in the movie had to have voice coaches though they were all Irish, as they came from outside of Dublin.

I'm going to have a lot of fun with this site. It could be unfortunate if anyone were to take it seriously!!
