Kilt buying woes
My first kilt was ordered from amazon, fulfilled by a third party seller. The tag described it as poly viscous made in Pakistan. When it arrived, it was about seven inches too large, falling off of me even in the smallest strap configuration. Back it went, $20 wasted in shipping.
Fast forward to next attempt. I ordered an acrylic from Tartanista. The size was perfect and it looked fine, but after two hours of wear the pleats look absolutely horrible. Oddly enough, the material looks and feels exactly like the "PV" kilt I first ordered. This one is going back too, another $10 wasted on shipping. Tartanista responded very well to my request for refund, so no complaints there, they're treating me fine.
Tell me, does acrylic typically so this after sitting on it for 15 minutes?

So here I am. I'm done with cheap options and wasted time. I will NOT buy an acrylic again, nor will I buy from any no-name seller. I need a nice quality black watch kilt. I want it to look great hold up. I'm thinking that PV is probably my best bet, but am open to suggestions. I don't want to spend more than $200 if possible. What do you think are my best options for my dollar?

If you could raise your budget $219 you could order one of the Semi-Trad kilts from Rocky at USA Kilts. I've never seen a negative comment about them, it will be custom made to your size, and they have AMAZING customer service.

Disclaimer: I don't one of these, but I do own one of Rocky's "Casual" kilts and one of his Ex-rental 8 yard wool kilts. I called multilple times and Eric (I think) always took his time to listen to my questions and made sure he answered them clearly in a way I understood.
However, the Rabble can attest to the quality if the Semi-Trad and confirm the level of service Rocky's organisation provides.
The Casual Kilt is fantastic as well. No straps... just velcro, but at $99 it's still a great value. You can wash it, and it will hold up. I wear it frequently and the pleats hold up well... way better than my SportKilt.

Just 2 options of many... Best of luck!

I absolutely love USAkilts. I have the Semi-Traditional, Casual and 5 yard wool. As said on this forum if you can, save your pennies up for the best you can afford. But the Semi-Traditional is very very nice and machine washable it also can be dressed up. The Casual is just that a casual garment. I will say once I got my 5 yard wool kilts the PV's just don't get as much wear.

Even I have a semi-trad model from Rocky. OK, mine is one of the old ones from 2005. Today's is different from when I got mine, but a Semi-trad none the less.

Here is a pic of my semi-trad from USAKilts. I think it looks as good as any 5 yard woolen kilt and better than some. This is Rocky's Celtic Nations tartan

I am very happy with my PV from Freedom Kilts, which I purchased after having had a 16oz traditional for a while. Good quality, good price, good look
