Meet my thrift store tweed jacket!

Around Christmas I popped in my local thrift shop and started poking around for any number of things, I bought a pristine leather jacket with zip in thermal liner for $12.99 a toaster oven for tempering knife blades for $5.00, and this fine patch pocket two button tweed jacket for $9.99. It's a 40 short so it fits my stubby frame nicely! Having been inspired by @Mikilt and his sweet jackets, I figure I could tackle a conversion!

Here is the fun, I can't sew a stitch, and being color blind I couldn't guess as to the color, I just know I like it and the pattern... And really that works for me!

Without further delay, meet my new project! Better pics and/or project updates to follow....

Great find! It's especially suited to conversion to a kilt-length jacket due to the fact that the pockets are patch pockets and can generally be raised and/or shortened pretty easily (though I'm not sure how the pocket flaps are attached - they might cause some headache).

It's a lovely material and a steal at that price! Good luck!

The flaps are top stitched as well as the pockets (with no visible anomalies), so it's a big plus!

One nice thing in my eyes is its not fully lined, I was stressing about working with a lined jacket, this saves me the worry, but I need to figure the finished edge on the jacket hem, and what to do with the pockets? Shorten and raise? Or remove entirely? Do faux pockets with just flaps and no pockets? Make slash pockets??? Oooooooh my head!
