I have a new Celtic Music convert....
About a month ago, I drove a school bus, with the choir and band directors, and students, to regional choir and band, in Tucson AZ (about two hours from here). It was a two-day event. Stayed one night in a hotel. On the way home, I was talking with the band/orchestra director. I had bought a book about Irish history, earlier that day, at a bookstore. This led to a discussion of all things Celtic. I told her about the celtic and celtic rock music, which I enjoy listening to (I have just over 2,000 tunes downloaded onto my phone, via Spotify). She seemed interested in this. I offered her my phone, so she could give my music a listen. She plugged her earbuds in, and listened to my playlist....for a long time, almost halfway home. She then stopped listening, and told me: "I like this." We had a good discussion, most of the rest of the way home. She said she was going to look into downloading some celtic music, and even play it, for her music students to hear.

A few band names. Yes.
At the mention of celtic rock the first thing that popped into my head was, "How about celtic punk?" Then, "The Pogues, Flogging Molly, like."

My first exposure to acoustic celtic music was a Mick Maloney album I bought at a fiddle festival back in the 70's. Being a Bluegrass fan I could relate to the musicianship and I was hooked. Our local college radio station has a celtic show on the weekends and bring in top notch bands periodically.

My Spotify playlist

If you are a member of Spotify, I have a playlist of just o er 2000 tunes. The playlist is entitled "Mike's Mega Celtic Playlist." I have all kinds, those mentioned in this thread, and a whole lot more. Too many to name. I believe you can do a free version of Spotify. You just can't listen to it, away from a wifi hotspot. I pay about $10/month. But, my whole family has used it extensively. Music for halloween, wedding receptions, my wife's "workout" music, and of course my celtic list. It's worth it, for us. I'm listening to it, right now, as I write this note.

Mike, I have tried several times and it is not coming up in the search. Do you think we would need to be facebook friends?

Mike, I just received a CD from a client (thanked by the artist for assistance in production). The CD is "Scotland's Fiddle Piobaireachd" Vol. 2 by Bonnie Rideout. If you don't have this in your playlist, I'd love to send you my copy to add to your list.
If interested, PM me your address and I'll mail a copy to you. It would be my pleasure to share.

My playlist is now public
I had someone tell me that they couldn't find my "Mike's Mega Celtic Mix" playlist. Well, stupid me, I hadn't made it "public." I just did so. So, for those who are interested, take a look. Let me know if you can find it, or not. Lots of good tunes, both celtic and celtic rock. Check out the Angry Brians, Brick Top Blaggers, Irish Moutarde, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, to name a few. have fun
