    What to wear for Easter

I have a bit of a situation going on...I don't know what to wear for the approaching Easter Sunday which includes the Easter Service and Brunch at a nice restaurant. Most of my male family members either wear sports jackets and slacks, or some of the rather "underdressed" male family members wear a button down shirt with rolled up sleeves and "dress jeans." I would like to wear my ancient gunn tartan kilt, but I'm not sure what I should wear jacket wise, argyle...tweed...or even Prince Charlie? I also have a matching tie made from the same bit of tartan, but I'm not sure if that would be too much matching, I've heard different views on matching certain things when wearing a kilt. Thank you in advance for all of your wise advice.

Colton, you're young, so you wouldn't be expected to dress highly. With the crowd you're attending with, why not kilt, hose, sporrran, decent shoes and just a nice shirt - button up, fairly plain.

No needs to overthink this one. What Bill suggests is perfect. Have a great Easter this Sunday.

If you feel the need to wear a jacket, my thought would be to wear the tweed. Argyle and PC are more appropriate for "black tie" events.

I'm not a fan of tartan ties at the best of times and certainly not with a kilt.

Not to contradict Father Bill, who is rather more qualified than most of us regarding church matters , but I would say to wear the kilt equivalent of what most male family members are wearing---regardless of your age. That would be hose with flashes, leather shoes (polished), your kilt, plain leather sporran, button up shirt, and tweed Argylle jacket. An alternative would be a thin sweater (UK "jumper") over your shirt. If others are wearing a tie, then you should as well, but I'd skip the tartan one in favour of a solid colour or classic stripe.

Thank you for all the friendly input about what I should wear, I took some photos of what I will wear to Easter, in the first more formal look I would actually be wearing a white classic collar pressed shirt with a tie (color unknown, if any of you have suggestions that would be great), I still haven't decided on a hose color either if you have any suggestions that would also be great! Also, if you see anything that I'm not wearing correctly could you point it out.

This is also another possibility I know that it is not a properly cut jacket for a kilt but my mother thought it looked good...

I'd say you are better off with the tweed argyll jacket as the regular suit jacket is too long with the kilt besides being too long for the fell it just looks sloppy. Take a look at the 1 kilt 10 looks thread and pay attention to the last half of it from 5-8 or so. I would stay away from the PC as it is simply too formal and is the equivalent of a tuxedo, which is not worn until after 6M. This is what I wore for Christmas services as a further illustration.

As for hose colour you could simply go with a lovat green or blue which would both pair well with your tartan. Whatever you choose please do post a photo.

I had an older gentleman (extremely smart dresser) tell me once, that I should consider pastel shirts with some outfits to lighten the mood of my ensemble. He liked pink, lavender and yellow shirts; the lighter the shade the better. I found the hint of shaded shirts drew more favorable comments from other folks.
Your kilt allow for a mix of colors with a tie, jacket kerchief and hose (with or without flashes). I feel your photos show maturity in a first kilt outfit. Well done.

I'd suggest something a bit less sombre - a light blue or green shirt with a plain tie would really lift the look. Lighter coloured hose would help too.
