Is anyone kilting for US Independence Day?
Independence Day is nigh in the USA. Since many members on here are residents of the aforementioned country, the question is; will anyone on here be kilting up for the occasion? I will be kilted for the church service on the third, but will be in armor for the fourth (as some friends and I will be celebrating with live steel). I intend to wear my freedom tartan with a white shirt; a red, white, and blue striped tie, a blue jacket, and scarlet socks with blue tops and white flashes.
Keep your rings charged, pleats in the back, and stay geeky!

I may be going to Universal Studios this weekend and was thinking of wearing my tactikilt for the first time to a theme park. I am a bit nervous, especially on roller coasters! Yet, no, I am not going commando ...

Just curious... Why would you want to wear a kilt to the amusement park?

The Florida heat is oppressive, and I have found myself to feel much cooler wearing a kilt (I'll be darned the added airflow works!). Thus I want to stay as physiologically comfortable as possible.
Yet, secondarily, there also is a nice Irish area and restaurant and I thought it might also be fun to be kilted there.

Chicago's heat can be wicked also
For the 31st Annual Chicago Scots Fest and Highland Games in Itasca a few weekends ago it was 92F on the marching feild . Despite being 'regimental' in my MacKenzie Clan Kilt for the various ceremonies with The Chicago Highland Rifles as well as in my Ferguson Modern Tartan family Kilt { From MacGregor And MacDuff } in Scotland when manning my clan tent I almost got heatstroke AGAIN { it happened 6 yrs ago and landed me in the ER } . The benefits of the extra air conditioning down yonder can be overwhelmed by the Glengarry or Balmoral cap on top and even moderate physical exertion . Almost too late I came upon an idea that saved my bacon and the Scottish Saltaire from going down on the field if I went down . I wear a Glengarry for my family and the CHR favor it also . After putting a few ice cubes under them in the hottest part of the day I realized that putting some in a ziplock baggie was an even better solution . The cold water and ice could remain and it fit just wonderfully under my cap . For me its impossible to keep hydrated enough when its that hot , and we can't head off to the whisky tent or beer vendors while on duty to cool off The sensation of very cold on my head while sweating like a roasting haggis everywhere else was pretty weird to say the least .

I'll kilt in my American Heritage tartan tomorrow for Denver's big fireworks display. Also on the 4th for my hometown, Thornton's fireworks display.
Y'all and your kilts be safe celebrating the 4th of July!
