Riding a motorcycle with a kilt

I know this is probably NOT going to happen but since I'm an avid biker, I thought I would throw the question out there. Perhaps, this is very possible just might need to wear undergarments. However, I look forward to hearing the answers.

I've never done it, just like I would not wear shorts while riding. I'm 50 now and have had my motorcycle license since I was 18. Just saying in my opinion it's not a good idea.

I'm ATGATT about 95% of the time so I've never done it. I do occasionally take short hops close to home without being dressed like a Power Ranger, but still keep all my skin covered. I'm not gonna lie though, I've thought about it plenty of times. Aerostich Combat Touring Boots would be pretty sweet with a kilt. If you were going to do it though, I'd be sure to tuck the front aprons under to keep everything from going full Marilyn at speed.

Suggestion: Pack a kilt and swap the jeans for the kilt at your destination. The nature of donning a kilt allows one to "change" in public.

All the gear, includes sitting on a sun baked saddle of a bike (usually dark leather) and having protection. Underwear is required if that occurs. I only kilt up after reaching the point when I will walk around after a ride (rally or poker run finish). I've tried and can't stand pebbles or insects banging into my knobby knees or shins.

June 2015 at a rally I rode in with jeans and lived in the kilt for three days.

Long time rider, and I can't see wearing a kilt on a bike. I have ridden in shorts a few times, in the southern heat, ATGATT is just not something most folks bother with. But I just can't see straddling the bike, and riding with the wind blowing around without exposing myself. You never want to dispel the great mystery of under the kilt for those who don't wear one!

I'm a member of the ATGATT crowd 99% of the time, but I will slap on my helmet and take my scooter from garage to trailer in a kilt. When I do, I tuck the front under me on the seat. I also won't leave the garage on my bicycle w/o a helmet. I do find it strange that I'm uncomfortable on the motorbike w/o all the gear, but I've reveled in hurtling down mountainsides on a bicycle at 30-50mph with nothing more than a plastic helmet, lycra shorts, and a T-shirt.
With that said, I have astonished some folks at rallies when taking off my armored mesh to reveal a kilt (or bicycle shorts) underneath. Still protected, but cool(?) on those 100+(F) days.

On a side note, kilts are great for bicycle touring. Keep a kilt on the top of your kit; at the end of the day wrap the kilt around your waist, off with the shorts, and ahhhhhhh

Me? I started bicycle touring at 40. Mostly 3-7 day rides. But then I at 60 I spent 9 weeks on the Southern Tier crossing the US. I got Scout I (a Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter) at 59. Scout II (my current ride) is a Burgman 650. Why scooter? My truck is an automatic, why shouldn't my bike be?

Gentlemen,

I am appreciative of the enlightenment in this subject. Actually, I did ride with shorts, muscle shirt, and hiking boots. It was awesome. On the other hand, most of riders were in jeans, some type of shirt, and boots.

Here in NC, helmet is mandatory.

I would never wear a kilt on a motor bike, ive long ago had enough experience of scrapes on a bicycle so I go always fully kitted up.
But if I were to resurrect my bicycle out of the shed would I wear a kilt? Maybe for just a gentle ride down to the beach or newsagents. Would I then wear underwear,? Almost certainly that narrow saddle needs all the padding it can get!!!
