    Sporran Strap/Chain Buckle Location

It has been awhile since I've posted. I did a search, but couldn't find this question:

I know the buckle of the sporran strap/chain is in the back, but on which end is it located? Left or right end of the strap/chain (as viewed from the back), or does it even matter?

It is entirely possible I'm over thinking this.

You would not be the only one.
I went with simply adjusting the strap up front with the buckle as if it was my trouser belt and then spinning it 'round

I think with greatest of respect that you are over thinking this.

I expect that we have all done it, at one time or another.

That is what I usually do also. But for some reason, today I just started to wonder...

    Sporran Hangers

I don't wear a sporran belt, I wear hangers but I think if I did wear a belt and chain I would like it at the side where it would be more convenient and easy to buckle or un-buckle

I had to check my sporrans to try and find an answer. Here are my straps. Only one has a buckle and it is a mirror image of a normal belt. The buckle would be in my left hand and the end strap will pass through it. Two of the straps are clipped onto the sporran with one buckled on each side of sewn straps. I made all these straps and sporrans so I can't speak for others that sell or make their own.

I suppose that if I think about it, I would have the buckle end counter-clockwise from the strap end, as I also do with my belt. In reality though, I don't usually think about it and it is oriented in whatever direction I picked it up, as witnessed here. So far, it has not ruptured the space/time continuum either way - so I'd do whatever seems logical to you.
