Kilt Trip
It has been a while since I last posted on this forum. Basically speaking, I have been wearing kilts all year round as weather permits in place of pants wherever possible. I have all but ditched my short pants, but for two pair that I have not worn in so long.... can't remember when I did last wear them! I cannot wear kilts to work due to the fact my job is an industrial setting (biomass boiler), but as soon as I get home, I hang up the trousers and either put on a kilt I wear around the house, or my utility kilts I wear out and about.
So, when my wife Elsa and I recently went on a road trip, it was kilted nearly all the way, all except when I attended a non-denomination church service, and also when I was hunting for diamonds in Arkansas (kilts are not great for getting down on your knees in the dirt). And, as someone said, "no pics, it didn't happen". Well, behold the pictures below.
I had quite a few comments on the kilts; all positive. One guy said something like "awesome kilt, dude. Takes a real man to wear one of those things". Took me by surprise, but there were a number of such comments.
I might mention that I FINALLY saw someone else in this town wearing a kilt at a local store! I couldn't believe it. Alas, one of those times when I did was NOT wearing my kilt; had come from church fellowship and I wear trousers there. They would let me at my church, but don't wanna draw attention. Anyhow, was really great to see. He was wearing what appeared to be a Black Watch pattern; he said he bought it on Amazon I think.
Here are the photos from our trip:

This was a HUGE cross we checked out in Groom, TX. For scale, I am the tiny figure standing at the bottom of the cross, bottom center photo.

This was inside a fountain and store area just north of the big cross.

Proof that we entered Arkansas. Why? To look for diamonds.

We entered Arkansas from the Oklahoma, here again is proooof.

The only diamond deposit in the entire world you are allowed to dig for diamonds and keep what you find.

Unfortunately, I did not find..... any.

While in the area, we decided to check out the Duck Dynasty place that is always shown in the TV show. It is there for real.

The Duck Commander store. Anything under the sun that can be sold with a duck on it is sold here, except maybe a brick of firecrackers....

My wifey snapped a photo of my kilted driving.
Anyhow, a few photos of a long trip, 3170 miles to be exact. We drove through New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, back through Oklahoma and Texas and New Mexico. Whew.... but it was soooo much easier wearing a kilt. No sitting on my wallet, and lots of free movement. Great trip.

Nice, if you ever stop by my church feel free to wear the kilt, maybe its being presbyterian but I've never heard a single rude or negative comment and plenty of goodwill at any church, noticed the same at other local denominational churches and this is a rural conservative area.
Either way they are the best for road trips and long drives, just way more comfy.

Did you find any diamonds at Diamond Crater? Me either.
Looked like a fun trip.
