Kilted at a Red Hat Convention? Any Experience out There?

So there's a big convention of the Red Hat ladies in Las Vegas in February '18. An old college sweetheart has invited me to meet her there and I plan to attend.

I know the Red Hat ladies are wild and fun and pure joy to be around.

Since she invited me I'm guessing men are welcome or, at least, tolerated.

My mind races at the thought of being kilted amid hundreds of Red Hat ladies bent on having fun. Will they tear me apart like a pack of dogs on a rat? Will they ask "The Question" nonstop?

Will they take liberties?

Maybe someone out there has already attended Red Hat convention kilted and can provide some feedback????

I do know I plan to attend "Commando" but they won't know that....unless...dang...

Just my opinion but the "commando" thing seems more than a bit over blown and depending on how "wild" the convention you mention becomes I think you are asking for trouble or could be causing some embarrassment to yourself and the ladies around you........if you were with a group of very close friends and don't mind the heckling then whether you were "commando" or not wouldn't be an issue.....personally I don't understand the issue of whether a man has underwear on under his kilt.....it all seems a bit childish to me and takes away from the dignity of wearing a kilt......like I said just my opinion though

I enjoy the Red Hat ladies in my town. Their fun is usually safe (while around the public). I will insist that you do not wear a red hat of your own. That will be asking for it (and it ain't good for you).

For sure no red hat of my own. Issue isn't commando or not...issue is the FUN red hats seem to have. Just looking to see if anyone had already done that.

Several years ago I was in a neighboring town, of course I was kilted, I came across 3 or 4 ladies donning red hats. They were just coming from a meeting, and were just over joyed seeing a "kilted gentleman" (their words). We talked for a good 30 minutes or so just having a grand time of it.

No problems with the question, or trying to sneak a peek. I found that we were pretty much in sync with our crazy and fun loving ways.

If case someone comes across this thread who is mystified by the talk of women wearing red hats:

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth...

And about wearing purple, with a red hat that doesn't go...

I would worry about getting out alive.

My wife and I stopped at a rummage sale at a local retirement home on our way to a wedding. I had on a USA Semi-Trad in Scruffy Wallace tartan, and I could not go more than a few feet without a wonderful older woman or another stopping me to ask about the tartan, the kilt, what was underneath ...

My wife found it highly amusing listening to the remarks being made behind my back, and the women pantomiming lifting my kilt as I went past.

I had to remind myself that when those woman were forty years younger they were probably grand hell raisers.
