    Allen Edmonds Long Branch boots

    Hi to all,

The Long Branch boot has been discussed here a number of times. I was looking at them (again) before Christmas and almost broke down and paid full price but held off, deciding that I would wait for the next time they were on sale. Lo and behold just a few days later:

    Long Branch boots

they are! My pair is inbound, thought I should post a heads-up in case anyone else is interested.

Very nice! If I had a few more bucks they would be mine.

Just a note on the Allen Edmond shoes.

Each model of shoe made by this company useses a different shaped last to make the shoe. Look carefully at which last is used. I find most of the Allen Edmond shoes to be made for people who do not have a high arch.

It took me four tries, back and forth, to get a pair that fit me. I would try them on and the laces were spread really far apart. In the end I had to ask them for a pair 2 sizes larger than their measuring guide.

Nice shoes and good customer service though.

I also have high arches so I'll report back on the fit when the boots arrive. I have these in black and brown

    Clarks Norse Wing

which fit fine in my normal size. I have noticed that some of the Allen Edmonds shoes don't look like they would work for me but the Long Branch seemed like a good bet. Hope so, anyway, because I love the look.

When I buy made to order shoes from Russell Moccasin I get size 11.5 D. When I buy New Balance shoes I need 13 EE. Any idea where the Allen Edmonds fit in this range? I've had Edmunds shoes in the past, but it's been a while and I don't remember the size.

I know that only a small segment of the forum will be able to take advantage of this, but if you are in Milwaukee, the great people at the Allen Edmonds factory, will measure your foot, pick materials with you, etc. to make you a completely custom shoe. I had done this a few years back, and while pricey, the shoes are an amazing fit and seem destined to last a lifetime.

While my current pair of shoes are very similar to these I prefer an oxford over a blucher if I am going to buy a brogued shoe.
