How do you store your kilt hose?
I've looked through the care and maintenance section to see if anyone posted how they store kilt hose when not being worn, but I could not find any. I have 6 or 7 pairs and I have been folding them like I do other socks, just longer. I'll start from the foot and fold a 6 to 7 inch section upward a couple times. Then I peel back on the hose opening to hold it all together. It wasn't until last night that my wife suggested doing that may stretch out the top of the hose over time since they are all or mostly wool. Is there a legitimate risk of that happening?
Is there any strategy to keeping hose neat and organized in a drawer or by some other means that does not risk stretching them out?
Do people just fold them like how they usually come in packaging?
Any advice would be helpful.

kilt hose storage
I fold each stocking top down to the seam, just like I do when wearing them. Then I lay each stocking on top of each other. I then lay 2 pairs on top of each other and lay them in a drawer...... like you I have a half dozen pairs but the high boy drawers are wide enough and deep enough so the stockings are fine and there is no need to fold the stockings more than just at the tops

I simply fold them without tucking them into the tops but the video here demonstrates a pretty good technique:

I simply fold mine into 3 sections and lay them into the drawer. I have never had any trouble with doing it this way. Here is my drawer.

Folded and squeezed into a draw that is probably too small.

I have a kilt bag from Order of the Gael that has compartments for a variety of kilt accessories. It has pockets for sporrans, loops to hold belts, a special kilt hanger that also holds my Prince Charlie jacket and vest. In the bottom of the bag is a wide zipper compartment for holding hose. I simply fold them over once and they fit fine in there.
Sometimes I lay them flat and roll them like a knit tie (or a Swiss cake roll). That works well for storing them in a shoe or boot when I have to change from some other outfit into my kilt when I am away from home.
I don't fold over the top except when wearing them.

I keep most of my knitted wool clothes in one drawer; pullover sweater, cardigan. Kilt hose go in there loose on top of the folded sweaters which I don’t wear too often here in San Diego. I only have three pair so it’s not a huge mess.

Mine are folded like they came in the packaging. I hadn't considered that it might stretch the tops out too much. Maybe I'll have to use the "roll and stand like cans" method mentioned here.

Mine are also folded like they came, which I have always worried might stretch them. I might try Bruce Scott's video method.
They are stored in one of those plastic bins one can buy at Walmart- or any other such store- covered, and hid away under the bed. I have about 12 - 13 pair jammed in, with my four pairs of garters, and a bit of cedar. I might need a larger bin soon, though it needs to be low profile enough to fit under the bed.

Lots of pairs bought over 30+ years...the ones for band days wore out long ago and sold off as projects. The remainder, I fold and place into zip lock bags that have the air squeezed out. I have these in a dedicated bin with locking lid. Have never had infestation issues.
