Differing clan badge from other side of the families Tartan
Is this bad taste? To take a Macneil tartan, and pin it with a MacQueen Pin? Maternal and Paternal sides of my family

Not in my opinion. I never wear my clan badge on my kilt and I often wear an Irish pin as a nod to the Irish side of the family.
And frankly I'm not sure anyone would notice.
Although my brother wears a turtle pin on his kilt (it is his spirit animal) and a indigenous Canadian once asked him if he had Mohawk blood. Apparently they are often call the Turtle Clan. They both had a good laugh over it.
If anyone asks you, just tell them why you are wearing it.

Not something I'd do or recommend. It suggests an identity crisis.

Its best if you don't, particularly in Scotland.

If you're a fan of two different football teams (or basketball teams, or baseball teams, or hockey teams), would you wear the sweatshirt for one team and put a pin on it for the other team?
It's similar. By wearing the tartan and/or the badge, you're showing your allegiance to the clan. If you want to show your connection to both sides of the family, it's better to do so on different days.
