    Lone Piper

As seen this afternoon by a friend of my son, walking down the sidewalk on Southill Drive, Toronto. Morale booster?

There have been Covid things like that, pipers who play on their front porch at a certain time every week, or march down a certain street, perhaps near a hospital or retirement community.

We have a very good piper here who plays on his front porch at a certain time every day and puts it up live on Facebook.

A pianist friend does the same thing, he sets up his electronic keyboard on his front yard at a certain time each week and does a little concert.

With concert venues closed around here it's a way for musicians to get music out.

    i'm surounded by comedians.

In times such as these when worry and anxiety can dominate some peoples lives, having and sharing a sense of humour is very important. Again, morale booster. Great work gents.

With no morris meets I've been taking my melodeon to the park and a couple of people have come to dance jigs, as that is all right and proper in the circumstances. It seems to have provided some cheer though even the weather has been against it recently. We were thinking of moving down to the harbour where there is a walkway beneath a car park we could shelter in and still get fresh air but avoid the rain - which has been torrential.

Good to hear you're getting the music out!

Morris dancing is a great unknown to me. I've never seen it in person. Nor do I have an idea of the repertoire. Or what sort of melodion/accordion is used. Seems like every musical tradition has its own dedicated type of box.

I've done quite a bit of playing for dancers over the years, mostly Irish dancing and Scottish dancing, but also stints in a Bulgarian folk dance band and an Israeli folk dance band.

Sorry to hear about the rain there! We've not had rain in months, it's been sunny and hot for ages.

The weather here tends to finally cool off around Halloween. But then sometime in September we will have the dreaded Santa Ana winds and the famous California fires will flare up.
