Made to measure jacket recommendations
I'm looking to have a kilt jacket made. I'm thinking either a braemar or argyle cuff in tweed or barathea. I was thinking having St. Kildas make it, but I would love any other recommendations the Rabble may have.

Probably, not the most convenient for you or a less expensive option, but I do not hesitate to recommend Campbell's of Beauley.

My recommendation would be USA Kilts, especially if it's your first, simply because they can walk you through the process from start to finish. Great people over there. I believe their tailor is Gaelic Themes in Glasgow.
Richard had a great experience with St. Kilda's recently. They seem to have an excellent collection of options.

I’ve talked with USA Kilts recently, and it appears they no longer do custom orders.

I’ve bought a number of MTM jackets from St Kilda, over the years; one of them quite recently (and quite customised, too). They are great to deal with. The web site still seems to include MTM.

I believe St Kilda’s Store and Gaelic Themes are the same entity. I have several jackets from them.

Last year when I was gearing up for our wedding I had my PC jacket and vest done by St.Kildas via Kinnaird in Saskatoon. Turned out fantastic! No regrets here!

I ordered a jacket directly from the St Kilda Shop, which is the same firm as Gaelic Themes, and R G Hardie.
They followed my chest measurement but added 6 inches to the waist, going against both their own size chart and the measurement I gave them.
They also made it "long" though I didn't ask for that.
When I contacted them they said custom orders couldn't be returned.
Possibly better to order through local shop like you did, perhaps the shop knew how to phrase the order to get St Kilda to make the correct size.

My tweed jacket from Gaelic Themes fit perfectly, and that was because I ordered it through Freedom Kilts, and Steve measured me up.

Well, I ordered my jacket and vest made to measure directly from the St. Kilda website last Monday. I followed their measuring guide, but after reading this I am a bit worried about the fit. I wonder if it is too late to provide them with additional instructions to insure a good fit.
