    Casual Kilt Outfit

I've read some great posts on the forum about different looks for kilts. I have a bachelor party coming up (dinner at a Scottish pub in the U.S.) in advance of a wedding that will be Highland wear. The pub gives you your first beer for free if you're kilted, which is an added bonus for wearing the kilt in addition to the connection to the wedding attire. My question is, what's a proper look for a casual night out?

My default is to go with a button-up shirt and vest, along with kilt, hose, and proper shoes. I have a Jacobite shirt that came as a freebie with a kilt package, but it isn't really a look I care for. I did find some nice long-sleeve Henley shirts on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/NITAGUT-Cotto...s%2C88&sr=8-40) that look like a good addition to the kilt. Thoughts? With our without a vest if the Henley is a good shirt?

I'm not overly concerned about this as it's a casual night out, but the hunting and putting together is part of the fun (for me) of wearing the kilt. So far I've been in the more traditional Argyll, and for the wedding I'll be in PC, so the pub outfit is a new exploration. This is proving to be a dangerously addictive hobby.

Casual kilting comes in many guises depending on the circumstances and that includes, no shoes, no hose, no shirt, but probably means in more usual circumstances, no jacket, no tie, no bonnet(depending on the weather), possibly a pullover, possibly a rugby type shirt, possibly a waistcoat, possibly scrunched down hose and possibly more casual footwear. Its a judgement call, but in all circumstances the kilt is worn properly.

Not to change the subject, but what kind of truck is that? I've never seen the like here in the U.S.

Its a Mitsubishi, Model L200. They are quite common in the UK. With optional 2WD/4WD(change on the move). Sad to say many Landrover owners have changed from the "bone shaker" to a lot more comfort, good ground clearance, first rate cross country ability, reliability and better fuel consumption that the L200 has to offer. I am also happy to say that a 1000 mile roundtrip journey that I take a couple of times a year is a realistic option with this comfortable machine.

As a truck-loving American Southerner I'm quite pleased that this thread has turned to discussing 4WD vehicles. I've got two Chevrolet full-size trucks, a 2003 Z71 and 1992 3/4 ton Silverado and would gladly add more to the stable if my wife would let me, lol.

Very casual, I'd just throw on a rugby shirt, although typically when I'm down the pub in my kilt it is before or after a match.

Otherwise I would probably wear an open neck shirt with a lightweight sweater. Most likely what I'll wear at the weekend - we have a tour guides get-together for the new season. I'm normally expected to introduce a bottle of whisky at these things but I don't think most of the other guides have seen me in a kilt...

Check out these links. You will find anything from a t-shirt to a button-up shirt without a tie. The kilt is very versatile. If you search the word 'casual' you should come up with some great ideas.

I am a fan of the Henley style as well as the collarless shirt (mock collar, grand dad collar... whatever).

For a night at the pub, or a rock concert, I’m a fan of work boots, scrunched hose, a leather day sporran, a belt with a nice buckle, and my favorite band t-shirt. For jackets, I wear a Carhartt Detroit jacket which is cut rather short.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to resize photos for the forum, but here is an Imgur album with a few casual outfits.
