we had a wrapping ceremony
to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. This is just a short segment of a video of
the grand kids entrance (most could come but the english branch couldn't make it).

Alright, I understand the 40th wedding anniversary, ---------congratulations by the way----------but you have me stumped with the "wrapping ceremony". If you don't mind me asking, what is that all about?

Ah yes, handfasting! I am with you now. Do you know, I have been to countless weddings in Scotland of all denominations, creeds and variations of belief and none in a fairly long life, but I have never seen it done!

My guess is once the law required people to have clergy or government official officiate it gradually went out of fashion particularly with clergy. Of course I have only been twice and also didn't see any kilts except a guy with a bagpipe on a street corner.
From the number of ties available on etsy it would seem to be making some sort of a come back and we did our bit. I did find it very moving.
Afterwards we had rock throwing, archery and axe throwing.
