The Highland Clans by Alistair Moffat

What is the general opinion on the reliability of The Highland Clans by Alistair Moffat? I'm currently reading it and while it does seem like a well written book I wondered how accurate it really is. I'm only asking because of all the nonsense that is written about clans, it can be difficult to find out the true story.

Alistair Moffat is a Borderer, not a Highlander. Enormous cultural (and language difference). How can one write well about the other? Well, Moffat did and did reasonable well in this work. He was 'way off the mark -- and he was dead on.

Take this volume as just another 'outlander' view of Highland culture. A good one, mind you, so pay attention. And then read more. Before the '45, after the '45.
