    Another sporran makeover project

As usual I'm taking inspiration from sporrans seen in vintage catalogues (top row, far left) and in surviving old sporrans I've come across on the internet (top row, second left).

I bought a Pakistani sporran on Etsy (top row, far right) because it was an inexpensive way to get a reproduction London Scottish officers/Pipe Major's cantle. I've always loved their cantle design. Oddly, though the Pakistani sporran was clearly a replica of a London Scottish sporran the seller didn't mention it in his listing (or indeed might not have been aware of it).

A sketch (top row, second right) blends these various things.

Also on Etsy I got a rabbit pelt printed to resemble a Lipi Kat pelt (2nd row, left, with the weathered cantle).

I cut the various leather bits including using Pinking Shears to cut the leather liner gasket, which I'd not done before (2nd row centre). Then I weathered the leather (2nd row, right).

I had to figure out the strap arrangement and attach the straps to the leather liner gasket (3rd row, left) copying the sporran seen at top left. Then it was attaching everything together (3rd row centre and right).

Bottom row shows the finished thing.

I don't think that strap arrangement would work with thick fluffy fur, the short flat hair of the rabbit pelt is perfect.

    Wow! Impressive!

Do you mind sharing the Etsy seller? I might like to try my hand at something like this.
