Please let us also not forget those that did not come home.

" Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the adherence of idle minds and minor tyrants". Field Marshal Lord Slim.

Twenty years ago today at 11:11AM we buried my father near his father's and ggg-grandfather's markers. Revolution, WWI, WWII. When the war started, Daddy was to young to serve, so he went to sea and sailed the world eight to twelve decks below the waterline with no benefits in the highest casualty rate US service.
When they finally recognized Merchant Marines with benefits, he said they needn't bother - "They didn't want me then, I don't need them now. That's not why I went."

Maybe fifty yards away is his cousin Billy's grave. Three Silver Stars, six Bronze Stars (with V's, personal, not unit awards), two Purple Hearts, awards from foreign
governments from Korea, to Africa, to Viet Nam and in between.

The stories are endless, from all corners of the globe, just like the men who answered the call. We remember with gratitude their willingness.

If you went, and are still here, let me say "Thank You".
