Vancouver August 2005
Here's a pub I'd like to have an evening at with you guys.
It's called The Irish Heather.
http://www.irishheather.com/ih_main.html
You can't see the setting of the pub but it is in Gastown, which is the oldest part of the city. A few steps out the door of the pub is a statue of Gassy Jack. The statue stands where there used to be a tree. Under that tree the city name was decided.
The street is cobblestones and bricks. The pub is part of Gaolers Mews. The back of the pub was a stable.
Across the road is a first rate tobacconist/pipe shop.
Gastown is almost like looking at Vancouver a hundred years ago.
Also in Gastown is the building that was Duncan MacLeod's dojo in the TV series, Highlander. I'd love to get that space for the Bear Kilts shop!

I'll have to get REAL lucky with the actual dates on this, as we're touring Scotland in August!
You know that I would walk there just to have one Vancouver Kilt Night under my belt!

Oooh that is enough advanced notice that I am awfully tempted to come see your city for a few days and meet a few more forum members.

As long as I can afford the trip, I plan to fly out for that event. My vacation is the first 2 weeks of July, so the kilt night will be a quick fly in and home deal.

Jimmy,
We're planning for the first two weeks in August with a Kilts Night on August 6th. Maybe another on the 13th.

Kilts night is always on the first Saturday of the month at the Atlantic Trap and Gill.
I'd be happy to have you drop by the shop. Call me when you're in town to make sure I'm not out grabbing lunch when you get there.
