Just to support the accuracy in what Paul is saying go to any news site any look up Ardoyne. It is a section of north Belfast and been the scene of a lot of clashes the last few days, last night in particular. The whole genesis of these occurences is the Battle of the Boyne. (offered without any comment).

I have been in training -----nothing too serious I might add-------for the event and the idea a being a month late for the grand occasion, well, I did need a stiff drink, just to get the brain back on an even keel!

Another misconception, you are confusing the gerrymandered state of Northern Ireland with the ancient province of Ulster - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulster .
Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan might have compromised the Protestant ascendancy (too many Catholics there) and were left out.
