USA Kilts Sizing Question
Greetings all! Just joined up here, but I've been a troller for a long time.
I have a question about sizes. I own a kilt from Kilt Mart which is a size 34. I wear my kilts at the true waistline, above the ole' belly button as it should be. My question is this:
the sizing info on USA kilts says to measure yourself at the true waistline, and i did. It measured at an even 40. 1., how on earth am i fitting into a 34, and 2., if I get a 40 waist on my new kilt, I feel like I'll be swimming in it!
anybody have any thoughts, I don't' want to screw this up!

Off The Rack Or Custom?
Is the 34" off the rack? I would be loathe to believe that the measurement taken with the specific directions followed accurately and a tape measure that is also accurate would be wrong. Perhaps the 34" was a "generous" 34' as some of the p@nts makers often do. I know nothing about the company so no negative comment implied.
You can certainly double check with Rocky but the one USA Kilt I own fits correctly and well and the measuring was done per directions on the site.

thanks for your reply, may I ask you this:
when you purchased your USA kilt, what was your measurement at the true waistline and what size jeans or pants do you normally wear? i'm trying to gauge if the difference between the true waist size and the pants waist size is as drastic as mine.
Mine was a 40 at the true waistline, but I wear a 32 or 34 jeans

Jason: I suggest measuring the Kiltmart kilt to determine its actual waist size at the belt positions you wear it. It may actually be closer to 40 than 34.
I recently got a USA Kilts Casual and it was right on the money, ..., in both senses of the phrase.
And, welcome to the blog!
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I am the same way. I have a bit of a belly that is very soft. Measuring with a tape and not pulling tight I measure in at 39". My USAKilts are all 37" and I put the buckle on the fourth hole in. If I got kilts at 39" they would feel like they are going to fall off and would not stay up without a belt.
I have another kilt (not USAKilt) with snaps that I wear at true waist. It is a 36" and with the snaps I have no adjustment at all. That kilt is a little tight.
Lets see what suggestions Rocky provides on this situation. You will need to go with his direction.

I strongly suggest calling Rocky and talking to him. He will listen (unusual in itself) and takes the time necessary to help kilt newbies get what they need. I know this from personal experience. I got my first "made to measure" kilt from Rocky, and I keep going back for more as my shape changes. He will get you squared away.
