Only two places I don't wear one are at work (though with prior approval I have worn one on an official employee outing to the Wine Country), and while doing my martial arts training & teaching.

Actually I have been known to occasionally wear it when training/teaching, as in this pic from May just before I ditched the goatee:

Wear to church, to a formal event or a night out, all the time when I visit Scotland. I would be less keen to wear one next time I climb a munro, such as Ben Vorlich in mid October.

All the time with one exception. When the Caithness wind doth blow horizontal rain.

Around the house, shopping in town, Weekend we nearly always have a family dinner at my daughter's so I dress up a bit with shirt, tie, waistcoat etc. I also wear my tweed jacket and tie with or without waistcoat depending on weather when shopping as it usually includes lunch at our favorite cafe.

I go kilted whenever I hike - all seasons & weather. I have never worn it to court but I have considered it. I wear it a lot to outdoor events. To the bar. Dining out. Any time I go to Boston.

At home nearly all the time, and when I go to any celtic events. My wife doesn't approve of me wearing a kilt to go out on other occasions, unfortunately, so I wear trousers to keep the peace.

Any place. It is just another garment in my wardrobe. When will everybody let go of the angst and perceptions that the world wants to introduce and just view the kilt as any other piece of clothing. No offense to the OP, but would you ask on any other forum where somebody wears shorts? Pants? Oxford shirt, etc.? It is a garment, and one with a long and historic past, but so are pants, saris, robes, etc.. Wear it, wear it proud, and don't look to others for validation on your clothing choices.

Sorry if I am grumpy, but man up and wear the kilt. or don't, but don't expect us to provide justification. This is your first post, and you ask the question that should already be clear in your mind before you put a kilt on, don't ask us to provide the balls for you to wear one.
