    Scotweb Vs. USA Kilt

    To the rabble,
I'm in the market for a 5 yard causual kilt in my family tartan and i'm trying to find one that's affordable but that will last the way a kilt should. I think i've narrowed my choices down to USAKilts and Scotweb. Scotweb is the cheaper option from what i can tell but i was wondering if anyone had any experience comparing these two kiltmakers and what they're advice would be.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks!

Before you declare Scotweb cheaper, do realize that they will be shipping from the UK to you in the U.S. Shipping costs and possible customs/duty may balance that out for you.

I have not had personal experience with USAKilts, only with Scotweb, and I was very happy with both the product and service.

I've dealt with both companies, and have no qualms about recommending either of them.

I will say that customs charges are a factor when dealing with Scotweb. On the occasions that I have purchased kilts from Scotweb, the import duties were 15% to 20% of the purchase price.

    Thanks for the help,
To be honest i was leaning toward USAK for exactly those reasons, the import tax and shipping. With the economy going the way it is I also like to buy American whenever I can, no offense to any other kiltmakers. Anyway, i guess the only thing left to do is measure up and order a nice 16 oz. Cunningham Modern!
    Thanks again

    Thanks for the help,
I had be leaning toward USAK for just those reasons, the tax and shipping involved with Scotweb. Also with the economy going the way it is I like to help American businesses whenever I can, no offense to our overseas friends. No i guess the only thing left is to measure myself up and order a nice 5 yard 16 oz. in Cunningham Modern. It'll have to wait a few months as I'm in Afghanistan right now, but good things come to those that wait. Thanks again

I've had good relations with both companies.
But as the owner of 6 kilts from USAK, I'd rate Rocky's quality, communication and customer service well worth whatever the difference in cost might be.

If you have the kilt shipped to you in the Sand Box, would there be a difference in the shipping costs?

I'd echo what others have said about the import costs. I thought I was getting a darn good deal, and then got hit with an extra $150 customs cost. Probably should have expected it, but didn't. I did receive a great product though.

    Re: Scotweb Vs. USA Kilt

I've done business with both companies and received excellent products and service from both. I don't think that will be an issue.

There are the "extra" charges associated with buying from Scotland that others have mentioned. For example, if you pay with a credit card there will almost certainly be a small, but not insignificant, international service charge levied by the issuing bank. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples when you consider cost.

Finally, and most importantly, stay safe and thank you for your service. Post a pic of your new kilt, when you get a chance.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
