Sewing machine?

Folks, this all makes good sense. I'm more likely to do harm to my project and myself if I try the machine. All of this sewing stuff is so new to me... a relative actually just sent me an old sewing machine she had in the closet, so I was wondering what I could do with it. I'll be stitching this kilt by hand.

Another thing to consider: the pleats--while being the most visible part of a kilt--are not the most time-consuming. There's a ton of construction behind the scenes that will take a lot longer than sewing the pleats, and much of that can't really be done with a machine.
