    An Excellent Present!

Mrs S_R and I were out Sunday night with good friends. As is traditional, we exchanged small gifts. I was delighted to receive a pith helmet! I've always wanted one, but few people know. The giver thought she would get it for me as it was the "crazy sort of thing I'd like". She obviously knows me better than she realises!

I wore it all yesterday and most of today. I'm not allowed to wear it to bed.

It suits you. Now I want to see a pic with you from hat to kilt.

Since it was a gift, I guess you had no choice but to, uh, take the pith.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. I haven't seen many people wearing pith helmets recently, but it looks good on you. Are you going to segregate the kilt and helmet or wear them together?

    S P L E N D I D !

I have a number of them and they are just the thing to avoid the Summer Sun at a highland games. If you don't already have them it will be worth your while to look into purchasing some tan hose, a khaki safari style shirt and a khaki web belt (available at most hardware stores for under $10).

You wind up with a nice tropical highland look like this

Also you now must join the Pith Helmet social group here on XMTS!

    Re: An Excellent Present!

I was talking to Mrs S_R Sunday night about putting together a khaki ensemble to go with it. I was thinking about some sort of kilt-cut safari jacket but, on reflection, that's probably not needed.

I have a khaki web belt already, and brown shoes, so just need a shirt and hose and I'm good to go. ith:

Top looking bit of kit SR. Very usefull when you need a bit of shade for the old noggin at this time of the year at the Highland Games. Glad to see one of your friend. so in tune with your thoughts. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh.
