Per pleat, old son, it's less than 1/32nd of an inch. Give the gentleman his due.
Imagine making a kilt with 25 pleats, and each one was off by 1 millimeter... Yup, you'd be off by ONE INCH.
Well done to the maker and the wearer!

Note that I never said that the 1/8th inch allowance would be in the pleat section, old bean. The final size of a kilt is, of course, fine tuned when attaching the buckles and straps. Matt seems to work within very tight tollerances, during that procedure.

Re: R'lyeh Sett Jonesin' Thread...
Woke up this morning to a very dreary, gray, and rainy day... When I checked my e-mail, I found a note from Matt that he was just about to start on my :cthulhusmiley: kilt... 5-yard Kingussie, pleat to the triple purple.
I am therefore now one step closer to being eaten!

Re: R'lyeh Sett Jonesin' Thread...
Congrats, sir!
It won't be long now... in fact, it may well take longer to ship to Nippon, than it will for Matt to make the thing up.
Will this be the only kilt that should not be, in Asia?
EDIT: Great choice on the five yard kingussie, by the way. I have one of the first like that that Matt did, and I love it... can't wait to see how it looks in the R'lyeh Sett.

Congrats. He going to have it done for your visit to this side of the ocean? Would save you a fortune in customs.

A Kingussie pleated kilt, with the pleats pinned up and ready to be sewn...
(I'm about 1/3 finished sewing the pleats in at present).

Matt, am I just looking crooked or do those pleats all face the same direction? I thought a Kingussie's pleats faced opposite each other depending on which side of the central box-pleat they lie.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

As for customs... I'm not so worried. I've received literally hundreds of shipments here in Japan, and have had to pay such fees maybe only once ever. I don't think the Japanese authorities care so much about personal items like this.

Hey- If fog pours out of your box like it did mine, even the Nihonjin might get to snooping. :cthulhusmiley:
