Re: Photos finally!
Thanks to all for the kind comments. It is nice to finally get some pictures up. I've got to get some new hose. Black isn't always the best color. ;)
Spartan- The 2011 Ball has been my favorite I have attended. The Commandant's Message this year was outstanding.
Davidg- Both of my older boys and even my daughter profess to wanting to be Marines. Time will tell, but they all love to wear their Kilts!
Riverkilt- I have seen 2 other Leatherneck straight cut waistcoats, but no other Bias cut ones. I just knew it would look sharp. Lady Chrystel was kind enough to do the buttons with holes like my Dress Blues coat so I could switch the buttons out, Black (Service Alpha coat) or Gold (Dress Blues). Turpin made my two tartan flaps, one with the gold stripe centered with the Gold button, and one with the Green Block with red stripe centered with black button. you can see both in the pictures. I usually wear the gold, but My wife thought it might detract from the Medals and other shiny at the ball so I arrived with black. Later in the evening I switched everything out for the Gold. With the "Snap Flap" and Button rings it took maybe 2 minutes. I love the Leatherneck tartan. I think the Dress Blues Belt looks sharp as a Kilt belt.
Also, I should get a closer pic when I get back home (I'm currently deployed) of my Kilt Pin that I usually wear, it's the US Marines Irish Pipes and Drums detachment logo. An Eagle Globe and Anchor over a shamrock on a Red shield. I hope to get a practice chanter and begin learning the Bagpipes soon.
At the Ball however, I am wearing a kilt pin and clan badge from Don McKee. His regalia is amazing, especially the USMC stuff. Photo of them to follow when I get home too.
My Brother Victor (on my right in the group of 5) has also received a Sporran near identical to mine from Turpin. We have some pics of us both wearing them but I think they are still on my wife's camera, with my notebook photo.
Paul- Thanks for the photo of the books, They are fantastic. I usually record each event I attend Kilted in it with my wife's Glass dip pen. I also have my wax seal in it. I have had many questions about where I got it and I always refer them to you.
I don't always go formal/dressy. Here is a picture of my with some friends out to dinner before graduation from an Airforce NCO (E6) academy.

Again thanks all!
Jon
