OK OK I've had enough!!!! time to tackle this regimental stuff head on, no mucking about, listen up you "no undies" brigade and let me tell you what happens when you become an older geezer like me.
There's not other way to put it, so i will be both blunt and crude.
Some guys as they get older, tend to develope problems of various sorts with the waterworks. For me it's not chronic, but now and then i have "accidents" and sometimes leak a wee bit
My point is this, if I went about as a "real Scot" then for reasons of hygiene I would be washing my kilt every other day.
Now you knowthat's not the practical thing to do.
So tell me how you can maintain hygiene as well as decency by being starkers under the kilt?
Frankly, I have pondered this, and apart from always wearing very long shirts down the kilt, I canna think of a way around the situation.
Sorry Mrs Blu, I did warn you.

Graham, try Kegel exercises. Women do them and so can men. Unless there is a medical reason for the problem with the plumbing that'll fix it. They young bucks could think about that too.

Graham,
I have found that when I wear the bare everything seems to work better.

Graham - That was way too much information.

The design of mens underwear has traditionally been just awfull. Esp. the hatefull white "Y-fronts"! These things suck bigtime and I don't blame anybody for not wanting to wear them. Boxers run a close second. A few manufacturers are starting to wise up with designs that offer lightweight cotton fabrics and a bit of lycra woven in for support. These are available in a high cut sides which might be more suitable for your purposes. Just my 2 kopecks!

No big deal, Graham. I understand... getting old stinks.

Another vote against regimental on grounds of hygene.
I have two words for you gents.
Hemorroids
Skidmarks
If you young bucks are not familiar with either word, just wait. You will learn as you get older.

I normally wear some form of boxer type undies mainly because when I sit I can't seem to help but flash anyone nearby. As Mrs Rhino said if she doesn't like the view it's unlikely anyone else will.
Seriously, I wear them out of respect for others, and especially if kids are around, I don't want to scare them out of 5 years of growth.
I do go regimental if I know I won't be sitting, climbing etc.
Cheers Rhino

I saw a pair of tight boxers in the sport shop the other day, made from nike dry fit, this stuff is great, it draws water away from your body then evaporates it away, good for hot weather, also I have warn a shirt made of this in the rain, my friend wore a cotton shirt and was soaked all day, I wore a dry fit shirt and was dry in about 5-10 mins.
I plan on getting a pair of these shorts today, and will let you know how they are.

The Age Old Question
Wow! - all these revelations about "under-kilt problems" which I have never experienced, despite being pretty antiquated. (And, what the hell are Kegel exercises?)
I have always thought/hoped that J. Charles Thompson was right when he wrote: In fact, I may say that I never knew of a man who gave it [going regimental] a fair trial who ever went back to wearing pants under the kilt. However, recent posts indicate that for some it is not a matter of choice. So, time for me to bow out of this discussion . . .
