Finally text on the "Bonnie Prince Charlie" Cane/Stick
Well I finally finished the text on the "Bonnie Prince Charlie" Jacobite cane/stick i've been making! it now has the inclusion of the chorus of "The Skye Boat Song" on it eg:
Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward! the sailors cry;
Carry the lad that's born to be King
Over the sea to Skye.
Before text was added!

After text added!

Simple answer Bill I cheated!!! I got the chorus, coloured the text yellow on a black background shrunk it to size to wrap round the cane, printed it off! I then pasted it to the cane, let dry!! touched any edges with matt black paint, applied a coat of clear varish, let that dry then a slight rub with sandpaper (fine grade) touched up with matt black again! finally 4/5 coats of clear varnish and it's as smooth as a baby's bottom, no seams, edges nothing!! Not bad for an old pool cue and the top of a whisky bottle.

Découpage and lacquer per chance? Beautiful work. I like that however you managed it.
